Good to know

Questions, answered.

Documents, deposits and everything else riders ask us before picking up a scooter in Varkala.

Booking & payment

Rates, deposits and how you pay.

You can book your ride anytime through our website, Android app, or iOS app. To confirm your booking, the payment must be completed online through our secure payment gateway.

Yes — a refundable deposit of ₹1000 applies. It is shown at checkout before you pay, and it is returned within 3 days of you handing the vehicle back, once it has been checked over.

Yes. Rentals are billed by the hour rather than as rounded-up days, on a 12-hour minimum block — so a half-day ride does not cost you a full one. Daily, weekly and full-trip rates work out lower again the longer you ride, and every rate is shown against the vehicle before you book.

You get a booking reference on screen the moment payment goes through, and the same booking appears under My Bookings when you are logged in. If you ever lose the reference, log in with the phone number you booked with and it will be there.

No. We do not accept cash on delivery. All bookings must be paid in advance online through our website or mobile app. Even if you visit us directly, we will send a secure payment request to your WhatsApp, and the payment must be completed online before the scooter is booked and released.

No. The price you see at checkout includes the rental and any add-ons you picked, with taxes shown separately before you pay. The kilometre allowance, the per-kilometre rate beyond it and the refundable deposit are all shown against the vehicle before you book. Fuel and any traffic fines during your rental are the only things you pay for on your own.

Yes, on both iPhone and Android. You can book, pull up your booking, extend by the hour and see your ride updates from it — the same account and bookings as the website.

Through the app and on WhatsApp, so you are not calling us to check on anything. Your booking reference and pickup details arrive as soon as payment goes through.

Documents & licence

What to bring, including for visitors from abroad.

A valid government photo ID and your driving licence. Gearless scooters need a two-wheeler licence (or an International Driving Permit if you are visiting from abroad); geared bikes like the Classic 350 need a licence valid for gear (MCWG).

A one-time licence check keeps every rider on the road legally insured and lets us hand the keys over without paperwork at pickup. You upload it once from your account and it carries across all your future bookings.

You need to be old enough to hold a valid licence for the class of vehicle you are renting. Bring the licence itself — a photo of it on your phone is not enough on its own.

Pickup & return

Where you collect, and when.

From our office at Hospital Junction, near Govt. Taluk Hospital — about 1 km from Varkala Railway Station and a short hop from the cliff. Your booking confirmation has the exact location and our hours.

Currently, we do not offer vehicle delivery or pickup services to hotels, homestays, or other locations. Vehicles must be collected from and returned to our designated rental location.

You can book anytime, as long as your preferred scooter is available. If you've already planned your trip to Varkala, we recommend booking in advance so your ride is reserved and ready when you arrive — no last-minute searching, no delays, just pick up and enjoy your trip.

Your pickup and return times are fixed based on the start and end times selected during booking. Early pickup or delayed return is not permitted, as the vehicle may already be reserved for the next customer. Any late return or violation of the booked timing may result in additional charges or penalties.

The person riding has to be the person on the booking, with their own licence and ID. If your plans change, message us and we will move the booking to the right rider.

On the road

Helmets, fuel and what happens if something goes wrong.

Yes. One helmet is included with every ride. If you're riding with a passenger, you should request an additional helmet, which will be available at an extra charge.

No, fuel is not included. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as when it was handed over to you. If the fuel level is lower at the time of return, the applicable fuel charge must be paid. If the vehicle is returned with a higher fuel level, no refund or adjustment will be provided for the extra fuel.

If you experience a breakdown, please contact us immediately. For a mechanical issue, we will first try to replace the vehicle with another available scooter. If a replacement is not available, we will refund the rental amount for the remaining unused duration.

Minor issues such as a tyre puncture must be handled by the customer. Our fleet is regularly maintained and consists of well-kept vehicles, but as with any machine, unexpected mechanical issues can occasionally occur. In such cases, we'll do our best to get you back on the road with minimum inconvenience.

Yes — plenty of our riders head to Kappil, Ponnumthuruthu or further along the coast. Tell us if you are planning a long trip so we can put you on a vehicle that suits the distance.

If the vehicle is damaged during your rental period, it will be taken to an authorized service centre/showroom for assessment and repair. The customer will be responsible for the full repair cost charged by the service centre.

If the vehicle has to remain at the service centre and cannot be rented out, the applicable rental charges for the downtime period may also be charged to the customer. As our vehicles are handed over clean and properly maintained, any damage caused during the rental period must be settled in full by the customer.

Changes & cancellations

Plans change — here is how we handle it.

Yes, subject to the vehicle being free for the new dates. Message us on WhatsApp with your booking reference and we will move it across.

Message us with your booking reference and we will cancel it and confirm the refund. The cancellation terms that apply to your rental are shown at checkout before you pay.

Yes. You can extend your rental directly through the LocoRides app, provided the bike is still available for the additional time. If you plan to extend your ride, we recommend doing it immediately through the app without waiting until the last minute, as another customer may book the vehicle for the next slot.
